Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the PureSpeed concept, the first vehicle in its prestigious Mythos lineup. This limited-edition, two-seat speedster is based on the SL roadster but distinguishes itself with an F1-inspired halo replacing the traditional windscreen. Although not explicitly stated, PureSpeed borrows design elements from the SL convertible, particularly in the headlights and taillights. The front bumper replaces the conventional Mercedes grille with a sleek shark-nose design, complemented by a lower grille featuring a white-painted AMG logo. The PureSpeed was revealed in spectacular fashion on a floating pontoon in Monaco during the Monaco Grand Prix. Its open Barchetta design, devoid of a roof and windshield, perfectly embodies the spirit of classic racing excitement and F1 inspiration, making Monaco the ideal setting for its debut.
Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed Concept: Design
With the same aerodynamic efficiency seen in Formula 1, the open-top model's overhead protection system is meant to safeguard occupants. Additionally, two helmets tailored to the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed will be included with the purchase.

As a nod to legendary racing cars like the 300 SLR, driven by Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia, the two flying buttresses located behind the seats are sure to be admired by racing enthusiasts. The colour palette of the winning Mercedes from the 1924 Targa Florio event in Sicily is reflected in the paintwork.
Several parts of the design, such as the wheel covers and wings, are made of carbon fibre. The front "shark nose" design is reminiscent of the Mercedes-AMG ONE. It shares that vehicle's broad lower air intake, AMG branding, and black chrome-plated Mercedes star on its soft snout. Additionally, the design is complemented by side-sill panelling that has aero flicks, which highlight its impressive aerodynamic capabilities.
