The two cars share the same engine but have different outputs
Subsequent to the AMG GT-R unveiled earlier this year, Mercedes-AMG has further expanded it product portfolio with the official unveil of the GT Roadster and the GT C Roadster. Both these cars come with the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8. While in the GT Roadster it makes 462.5bhp and 630Nm, the GT C Roadster pumps an impressive 542.4bhp and 680Nm. So what do these result in? The AMG GT Roadster and the GT C Roadster can do the 0-100kmph dash in just 3.9 and 3.7 seconds respectively. These numbers are identical to the less powerful coupe siblings, mainly due to the additional weight the roadsters bear.
In terms of design, the two roadsters look somewhat identical. They share the same front fascia with the large vertically slat grille with electronically controlled shutters for improved aerodynamics. These shutters can also be opened up for better cooling. At the back though, the GT C sports wider fenders, wider wheels and tyres borrowed from the GT R. Mechanically, the GT C also gets active rear steering and AMG Ride Control while the regular GT makes do with AMG Sport suspension and rear wheels that don’t steer. The GT C also comes equipped with an electronically controlled rear axle locking differential while the GT gets a mechanical one.
As far as the interior is concerned, the dashboard layout of these two roadsters remains identical to the Mercedes-AMG GT. The dashboard sits low, but has a tall-ish centre console, a large central touch screen and leather upholstery. Unlike the GT coupe, the GT Roadster and the GT C Roadster come with an option of beige interior to choose from. That aside, you also have the choice of red, black and beige soft top colours.
