The Mercedes-AMG line gets stronger in India with the addition of a new SUV coupe.
Adding another member to its extensive range of performance oriented AMGs in India, Mercedes today has launched the GLC 43 coupe.
The GLC 43 coupe sits between the GLA 45 and GLE 43 coupe in Mercedes’ performance SUV line-up. The SUV coupe draws its power from Mercedes’ 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 petrol motor. This engine develops a good 362bhp of power and 521Nm of torque. The mechanical force is fed to all the four wheels via a 9-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The GLC 43 coupe is capable of propelling from 0-100km/h in under 5 seconds.
Typical of any AMG branded vehicle, the GLC 43 coupe also sports different exterior treatment to differentiate it from the less power GLC SUV. These include a different grille, larger air intakes on the front bumper, brushed silver front lip, and 19-inch AMG alloys.
The interiors get an all-black colour option along with red stitching – as opposed to the brown-bridge treatment of the ‘standard’ car. Further facilitating the sporty theme of the interior are flat bottom steering wheel, red seat belts and carbon-fibre inserts on certain parts.
Mercedes has not launched the standard GLC coupe in India, instead, it’s more practical (and mechanically identical) twin – the GLC (SUV), is available here which competes with the Land Rover Discovery Sport and BMW X3. The GLC coupe gets a characteristic sweeping roofline and a fast-back like tailgate to differentiate it from its traditional SUV twin. The GLC coupe is a strict 4-seater.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 coupe is priced at Rs. 74.8 lakh (ex-showroon, pan-India). The company is also offering extended warranty for the SUV, which starts at Rs. 1.51 lakh.
