The German automaker's sporty-looking Mercedes-AMG C 43 has finally been launched in India. Priced at Rs 98 lakh (ex-showroom), the new AMG C 43 is a sportier C-Class car that comes with many upgrades over the standard version. The Panamericana grille with vertical slats, gloss-black wing mirrors, boot lip spoiler, AMG-exclusive front and rear bumpers, adaptive LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights, quad exhaust tailpipes, and AMG-specific alloy wheels are some design highlights of this new German offering in India. Moreover, it has been introduced to our market alongside the updated Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV, which retails at a starting price of Rs 96.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Similar to the luxury carmaker's newly released sedan model, the redesigned GLE SUV has received enhanced features and design. In India, the upgraded GLE faces off against the BMW X5, the Audi Q7, and the Volvo XC90, while the new AMG C 43 competes with the BMW M340i and the Audi S5. Mercedes-AMG C 43: Powertrain

The recently introduced AMG C 43 includes a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with an electric turbocharger (the M139) under its bonnet. This hybrid system has taken the place of the previous 3.0-litre V6 motor, producing around 402bhp at 6,750rpm and 500Nm at 5,000rpm. The new sedan boasts more power while having fewer cylinders. The turbocharger is powered by a 48V electrical system, which also drives the belt-driven starter-generator (RSG). The RSG's boost function offers an additional 13bhp.

The C43 AMG comes with a nine-speed automatic transmission with the 'Race Start' function, which sends power to all four wheels via Mercedes' 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. The car has an electronically regulated top speed of around 265km/h and claims to go from zero to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds.

Mercedes-AMG C 43: Styling

As already mentioned, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4Matic is designed in a bolder, sportier manner than the conventional C-Class model. It sports an aggressively designed front bumper, an iconic Panamericana grille, and many AMG-specific design characteristics. However, when you get inside, the car looks similar albeit with some upgrades. Sport seats, red seat belts, new steering wheel with AMG Drive Unit, are some of these modifications. Aside from this, the car includes amenities such as USB Type-C ports, a 15-speaker Burmester 3D sound system, an 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, AMG ride modes, 64-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone temperature control, and a wireless charging pad, to name a few.
