Positioned below the C 63, the new C 43 will be the third AMG to be launched this year
Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz announced their strategy of introducing 12 cars, one for each month. But it seems as the year went along, the Stuttgart-based car maker decided to go a bit more aggressive. The launch of the CLA facelift last week was their 12th model for the year, however, the company said they will spring a surprise with another launch in December. And now they have officially confirmed the launch of the C 43 on December 14.
Mercedes-Benz sees a massive gap between the C200 and the C63. To bridge this gap and to offer performance at a more affordable price, the three-pointed star will introduce the C 43. It employs a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo unit that develops 357bhp and 521Nm. These figures allow the AMG C 43 to do the 0-100km/h dash in just 4.6 seconds, top speed however has been limited to 250km/h. Unlike its more powerful sibling, the C 43 is all-wheel drive. But if you think that it won’t be as much fun or easy to make it go sideways, you’d be wrong. The C 43’s 69 per cent rear torque bias will bring that ear-to-ear grin on your face much too easily.
Bring an AMG, the C 43 too will come with sporty characteristics like sport seats with contrast red stitching, red seatbelts and most importantly sports suspension. If that’s still not enough for you, there is also the carbon fibre trim and performance exhaust to add on.
This is the third Mercedes-AMG product to be launched this year. By expanding their AMG 43 portfolio with relatively affordable cars, Mercedes wants to make their performance cars available to a larger audience in India.
