Another performance-focused variant has been added to the Levante’s lineup.
Maserati has chosen the 25th Goodwood Festival of Speed to reveal the new Levante GTS. The V8-powered GTS slots below the flagship Levante Trofeo, which debuted earlier this year.
The twin-turbo V8 petrol engine powering the Levante GTS maintains the architecture of the 3.8-litre unit fitted in the flagship Quattroporte GTS, but it has been re-engineered to work with Maserati’s Q4 all-wheel drive system. The motor can deliver 542bhp of max power and 730Nm of peak torque. Like all Maserati petrol engines, this V8 is assembled by Ferrari in Maranello.
The new Levante GTS sports has a power to weight ratio of 3.9kg/bhp, which helps it dismiss the 0 – 100km/h sprint in just 4.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 292km/h. Alongside more power, the GTS also gets optional adaptive full LED Matrix headlights and standard Integrated Vehicle Control for enhanced stability.
Aesthetically, the Levante GTS gains more aggressive design cues from the flagship Trofeo model, which include aggressive front and rear bumpers. The interior of the GTS features a standard full premium leather or full-grain Pieno Fiore natural leather as an option, sport pedals and Harman Kardon audio system with 14 speakers.
Maserati only sells the diesel-engined Levante in India. Introduction of this new GTS model in our market would help the company expand its portfolio and better compete with other petrol luxury SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
