Maruti Suzuki will reportedly commence production of the lifestyle 4X4 SUV in April 2023. The vehicle has been in the news for several reasons ever since showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. Bookings for the off-roader initially began at Rs 11,000 and later increased to Rs 25,000. According to sources from the industry, the Jimny has been constantly receiving high bookings, and demand for the same doesn't seem to be slowing down. The automaker, according to reports, may raise the production of the new Jimny to maintain the waiting period between 3 and 9 months. It is expected to launch in our market by May 2023. Currently, this iconic SUV by Maruti Suzuki is ready to enter production next month.
In terms of production, Maruti Suzuki presumably plans to manufacture 1 lakh vehicles annually. It will set aside roughly 66% of this annual production for local sales and the remaining portion for exports. Every month, Maruti Suzuki hopes to allocate about 7,000 units for the Indian market.

Speaking of the engine, the new Jimny will come equipped with a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, capable to churn out 104bhp. It will come paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. Further, it will have the company's exclusive AllGrip Pro system, which incorporates 2H, 4H, and 4L low-range transfer gear. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny in a five-door avatar will have a ladder frame chassis in contrast to all other Maruti Suzuki vehicles produced in India, which have monocoque chassis. It will have a longer wheelbase and be 300mm longer than the 3-door version. Appearance-wise, the new Jimny will sport a boxy design. It will feature flared wheel arches, an upright front grille, circular headlights, and rectangular taillights.
In terms of safety, the upcoming SUV will contain six airbags, a brake-limited slip differential (LSD), ESP with hill hold aid, hill descent control, a rearview camera, ABS with EBD, and more. The Alpha and Zeta will be two models of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door. The more expensive Alpha SUV will come equipped with features including a touchscreen infotainment system, situated in the centre of the dashboard. The SmartPlay system will also be available, offering connectivity choices like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. According to industry rumours, the Alpha version will have alloy wheels, whereas the Zeta model will ride on steel wheels.

Closer to the launch, we might get more information on the estimated price of the new Jimny in India. Currently, the model is expected to come with a price tag of more than Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
