Suzuki has revealed its mid-term plan for FY2025-FY2030, with a focused strategy to boost the growth of its subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki, in India. The plan focuses on the introduction of four electric vehicles by 2030, marking a major shift for Maruti Suzuki toward sustainable mobility. The first EV to launch in India will be the e Vitara, which was showcased at the most recent Auto Expo. While details of other upcoming EVs are under wraps, industry sources suggest that the e Vitara will be followed by an affordable hatchback and an MPV, allowing Maruti Suzuki to expand its electric vehicle options for a wider audience.
As part of its mid-term plan, Suzuki will also prioritise the rapid development of entry-level vehicles designed to meet the needs of budget-conscious buyers in India. Although the exact launch date is yet to be confirmed, Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce an entry-level car aimed at individuals earning between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 13 lakh annually, with a particular focus on first-time car buyers.

This compact vehicle will offer a range of powertrain options, including CNG, flex-fuel, and mild-hybrid, providing buyers with multiple choices to match their needs. However, for now, let's delve into the details of Maruti Suzuki's first-ever EV in India.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Key Specifics
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is expected to be available with two battery options: a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh, offering both two-wheel and four-wheel drive versions. It is confirmed to provide a range of over 500 kilometres on a single charge. The e Vitara will support 7 kW AC charging and can charge up to 70 kW via DC fast charging.
In terms of design, the e Vitara stands out with a contemporary and bold look. It features sharp LED headlights, three-piece DRLs, a blacked-out bumper, fog lamps, and silver skid plates. Other highlights include alloy wheels, rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar, a shark fin antenna, and a roof-mounted spoiler.
Inside, the e Vitara offers a clean, minimalist dashboard with two screens—a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 10.1-inch instrument cluster. The cabin also features a fixed glass roof, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, and multi-colour ambient lighting.

For safety, the Maruti Suzuki EV comes equipped with a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), seven airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
