Maruti Suzuki's best-sellers have been recalled to inspect for a potential airbag issue.
Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall for a total of 1,279 units of the latest generation Swift and Dzire. All affected units are manufactured between May 7, 2018 and July 5, 2018.
The company states that the recall has been issued to inspect for a possible fault in the Airbag Controller Unit. The 1,279 recalled vehicles include 566 units of the Swift and 713 units of the Dzire.
Starting today, July 25, owners of the vehicles included in this recall campaign will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki dealers for inspection and replacement of the faulty part free of cost. Customers of the two cars can also visit the company website and fill in the chassis number to check if their car is affected under this recall.
Both the new Swift and Dzire have been immensely successful in India. In June, the new-gen Swift became the fastest car in the Indian automotive history to find one lakh takers. Interestingly, this record was previously held by the latest Dzire, which achieved this milestone in October last year.
