Maruti Suzuki has launched the next-gen Swift, equipped with the brand-new Z-series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, in India for Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The hatchback is available in five different variants – LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+ – with manual and automatic transmission options. Although there is no official date, the car is expected to be available in a CNG version soon. Similar to its siblings in the category, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG will likely have a factory-installed kit in its trunk. It is expected to come with only the manual gearbox and offer marginally decreased power and torque outputs than its petrol counterpart.
Price-wise, the Swift CNG is expected to cost approximately Rs 90,000 more than its petrol-powered sibling, which retails between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.65 lakh (both, ex-showroom). The new Swift's fuel efficiency is 24.80km/l and 25.75km/l with manual and automatic gearboxes, respectively. In the CNG form, it is expected to have a mileage of more than 32km/kg. Aside from this, the design and feature list of the CNG variant will most likely remain the same.
