The S-Cross becomes more tempting than ever before with this rather sizable price cut
Maruti Suzuki has slashed the prices of the S-Cross by up to Rs 2.05 lakhs, thanks to the falling sales and low demand of the premium crossover in the country. The S-Cross range now starts at Rs 7.79 lakhs and goes up to Rs 11.69 lakhs (both ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Launched in August 2015, the S-Cross was Maruti’s first “premium” offering in the country that also introduced the brand’s exclusive NEXA dealerships. The company’s efforts to pitch the S-Cross as a premium car didn’t quite work though as the monthly sales of the car have been underwhelming thus far, gradually dropping from approximately 4,600 units per month (August ’15) to 2,000 units (December ’15). Of late, NEXA dealerships have been offering huge discounts so as to boost the sales of the S-Cross, but to no avail. As a consequence, Maruti has been forced to revise the pricing of the S-Cross now.
The S-Cross is offered with two diesel engine options – 1.3 litre (DDiS 200) and 1.6-litre (DDiS320). The former is offered in four variants – Sigma (base), Delta, Zeta and Alfa- while the latter can be had in only three trims except for the base Sigma. The base model gets a price cut of about Rs 55,000 whereas all the DDiS 320 variants are now cheaper by 2.05 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Prices | |||
Variants | Old Price | Revised Price | Difference |
DDiS 200 Sigma | Rs 8.34 lakhs | Rs 7.79 lakhs | Rs 55,000 |
DDiS 200 Delta | Rs 9.15 lakhs | Rs 8.49 lakhs | Rs 66,000 |
DDiS 200 Zeta | Rs 9.99 lakhs | Rs 9.59 lakhs | Rs 40,000 |
DDiS 200 Alpha | Rs 10.75 lakhs | Rs 10.29 lakhs | Rs 46,000 |
DDiS 320 Delta | Rs 11.99 lakhs | Rs 9.94 lakhs | Rs 2.05 lakhs |
DDiS 320 Zeta | Rs 12.99 lakhs | Rs 10.94 lakhs | Rs 2.05 lakhs |
DDiS 320 Alpha | Rs 13.74 lakhs | Rs 11.69 lakhs | Rs 2.05 lakhs |
The revision in prices definitely makes the S-Cross a more appealing package than before, especially the DDiS 320 variants that come powered by a sprightly diesel mill.
