Despite stable petrol and diesel prices, Maruti Suzuki saw a 23% increase in sales of factory fitted CNG vehicles in India during the fiscal year 2014-15.
During the past 12 months, Maruti Suzuki sold 62,966 CNG vehicles, as compared to 51,525 the previous fiscal. As a result, the share of CNG vehicles in company’s overall sales rose to 5.4%.
Maruti Suzuki is head and shoulders above the rest in the Indian car market with total sales close to the 12 lakh mark. It's nearest rival, Hyundai, sells a third of its cars.
Maruti currently sells six cars in CNG variants, namely, Alto, Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon R, Eeco, and Ertiga.
