The fuel efficiency figures of the eagerly awaited off-roader - the new Jimny- have been revealed before its launch in India. For starters, the SUV debuted in our market at the Auto Expo 2023. Its bookings are underway at Rs 25,000 and currently have crossed the 30,000 mark. The Jimny 5-door with a manual gearbox has a fuel efficiency of 16.94km/l, while the version with an automatic gearbox delivers a fuel efficiency of 16.39km/l. Notably, the fuel tank has a 40-litre capacity. According to recently revealed fuel economy numbers, the Jimny manual version can go up to 678 kilometre with a full tank, whereas the automatic variant can cover up to 656 kilometre. It should be noted that these ARAI-certified numbers and real-world fuel efficiency will vary based on driving style and road conditions. Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Engine & Transmission
Under the bonnet, the all-new Jimny will have a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. It will produce 103bhp of peak power and 134Nm of maximum torque. For transmission, it will employ either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. For enhanced off-road performance, Maruti Suzuki claims to offer the SUV with an AllGrip Pro 4X4 system as standard.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Design
In its five-door avatar, the off-roader has a boxy body, flared wheel arches, an upright front grille, round headlights, and rectangular taillights. The upcoming Jimny will be available in two variants: Zeta and Alpha. The Zeta version will sport steel wheels, while the Alpha model will feature alloy wheels.

With the launch around the corner, the carmaker has shed light on one of the undisclosed information about the new Jimny, probably to create a buzz. In a recent development, Maruti Suzuki uncloaked the fuel efficiency numbers of the SUV. According to the leading automaker, the Maruti Suzuki in its 5-door avatar, will achieve 16.94 km/l for petrol manual versions and 16.39 km/l for petrol automatic models. It's important to note that these are ARAI-certified numbers and that real fuel efficiency will differ based on driving practices and road conditions.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Price, Rivals & Availability
The upcoming 5-door SUV will be sold in our market via Nexa outlets. It is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh. Prices are ex-showroom. As far as competition is concerned, the new Jimny will compete with the likes of the Force Gurkha and the Mahindra Thar. There is no official announcement on the launch yet. However, the SUV is anticipated to go on sale in our market in the first week of June 2023.
