Maruti Suzuki Jimny Deliveries Begin in India, Gets Over 150 Bookings Per Day

Maruti Suzuki launched the eagerly anticipated Jimny SUV in India at Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the Jimny began soon after its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. Now, in the latest update regarding the SUV, the manufacturer has commenced the deliveries of the Jimny.

Recently, Maruti Suzuki launched the eagerly anticipated Jimny 5-door SUV in the nation. Price ranges from Rs 12.74 lakh for the base model to Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec automatic model. Bookings for the Jimny began soon after its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. Furthermore, this lifestyle off-roader began arriving at Maruti Suzuki's dealerships throughout India in March. Prior to the price announcement, the Jimny, according to Maruti Suzuki, was receiving 92 bookings per day; following the price announcement, this number has risen to 150 bookings per day. Over 31,000 units have been reserved as of now, which results in a somewhat extended waiting period for the model. Meanwhile, the manufacturer has commenced the deliveries of the Jimny. While deliveries have already started, Maruti Suzuki claims that the demand for the SUV vehicle with a retro appearance is growing quickly.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV: Waiting Period

The Jimny 5-door has been commanding a waiting period of around 30 to 35 weeks at most places due to a robust order book even before the official launch. According to several reports, the entry-level Alpha model is the most popular choice for customers who wish to personalise their SUV to their preferences. The Jimny models with automated gearboxes are also doing well, especially in major cities across India.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV: Variants & Exterior

The Jimny is available from Maruti Suzuki in two variations: Alpha and Zeta. It has measurements of 3,985mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,720mm in height. It also features a wheelbase of 2,590mm and a ground clearance of 210mm. The fuel tank has a capacity of 40 litre. Moreover, the boot has a capacity of 208 litre and 332 litre when the back seats are folded.

The brand-new Jimny has round headlights, a slatted grille, slab-sided doors, upright pillars, flared wheel arches, off-road tyres, and other design elements. The vehicle rides on 15-inch alloy wheels with 195/80 section tyres. The new Jimny comes in seven exterior colour options. Two dual-tone choices (Kinetic Yellow with Black Roof and Sizzling Red with Black Roof) and five monotone options (Bluish Black, Granite Grey, Pearl Arctic White, Sizzling Red, and Nexa Blue) are available.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV: Powertrain Details

Coming to the engine and performance of the car, the Jimny 5-door SUV is driven by a single 1.5-litre, normally aspirated (NA) K15B petrol engine that produces 103bhp of maximum power at 6,000rpm and 134Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. A 4-speed automatic torque converter gearbox and a 5-speed manual gearbox are also available. It is important to note that the Zeta and Alpha variants will include both gearbox choices. The SUV delivers an estimated fuel economy of 16.94km/l for a 5-speed manual gearbox and 16.39km/l for a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

The Jimny also comes with a standard AllGrip Pro 4WD system, which incorporates a manual transfer case and a low-range gearbox with 2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low modes.

The Jimny's interior features a simple black colour scheme with silver accents. It has a "Surround Sense" sound system powered by "ARKAMYS" and a 9-inch multimedia touchscreen SmartPlay Pro+ that allows wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Jimny also includes six airbags as standard equipment, an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, hill hold control, hill descent control, side-impact door beams, 3-point emergency locking retractor seatbelts, ISOFIX child seat anchors, seatbelt pretensioner, and a rearview camera.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV: Market Competitors

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is priced in India between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 15.05 lakh for the top-spec Alpha model. Prices are shown ex-showroom. At this pricing, it rivals the likes of the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha.
