The new Jimny, without a glimpse of doubt, has been one of the most talked about models in the country ever since its debut. The upcoming off-roader has garnered significant attention in India for a variety of reasons, most importantly - increased booking fee. Ahead of its launch in our market, the carmaker has been sharing information in tits and bits, only to build the hype. In one such attempt, Maruti Suzuki recently disclosed its fuel efficiency numbers. The SUV's manual version claims a fuel efficiency of 16.94km/l, whereas the automatic variant asserts 16.39km/l of fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Engine, Gearbox & Off-road Capabilities
The much-anticipated Jimny will have a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, producing 103bhp and 134Nm. A 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic will be gearbox options for the Jimny SUV. Further, the off-roader will have an all-wheel-drive configuration as standard. According to Maruti Suzuki, the new Jimny's sturdy ladder-frame chassis and Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD technology will aid it to perform well off-road. With its manual transfer case and low-range transmission, the AllGrip Pro system offers three different driving modes: 2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low.

The off-roader features a boxy body, flared wheel arches, an upright front grille, circular headlights, and rectangular taillights. Dimensionally, the five-door SUV measures 3,985mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,720mm in height. It has a 2,590mm wheelbase and a 208-litre trunk. Also, the wheelbase of the lifestyle off-roader is 300mm longer than that of the 3-door variant.

In terms of features, the all-new SUV in its five-door guise will sport Arkamys sound system, steering-mounted controls, auto climate control, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, and more. In addition, six airbags, a brake limited slip differential, ABS, EBD, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Control, Brake Assist, a rearview camera, and ISOFIX anchors will come standard in the safety list.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Launch Timeline & Market Competitors
The SUV will be launched in our market on June 7, 2023. Price-wise, it could cost approximately between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh. Prices are ex-showroom. In terms of competition, the off-roader will lock horns with the Force Gurkha and the Mahindra Thar in India.
