Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the five-door version of the new Jimny in India with a starting price tag of Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom). The Jimny 5-door measures 3,985mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,720mm in height. At just under 4 metres in length, the new Jimny is shorter than Mahindra Thar. Given its size, the Jimny has a fair amount of boot space, having a capacity of 208 litres, while the car has 332 litres of boot space when the back seats are folded. When it comes to the design of the interiors, there are retro touches such as the round dials, the rubber boot below the gear lever, etc. Maruti Suzuki offers Jimny in two variants - Alpha and Zeta. Bookings for the Jimny are already underway at a token amount of Rs 25,000, and its deliveries are expected to begin shortly (in a few days).

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door: Exterior
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is based on a ladder frame chassis, and it has a wheelbase of 2,950mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 210mm. Design-wise, the new Jimny gets round headlamps, a slatted grille, slab-sided doors, upright pillars, flared wheel arches, off-road tyres, and more. The car sits on 15-inch alloy wheels shod with 195/80 section tyres.
Seven exterior colour options are offered with the new Jimny. These include two dual-tone versions (Kinetic Yellow with Black Roof and Sizzling Red with Black Roof) and five monotone options (Bluish Black, Granite Grey, Pearl Arctic White, Sizzling Red, and Nexa Blue).

The new Jimny comes well-equipped with a 9-inch multimedia touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, climate control, an electronic stability programme with hill hold assist and hill descent control, limited slip differential (LSD), ABS with EDB, a rear-view camera, projector headlamps with washers, and even 6 airbags on all variants.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door: Engine and Gearbox
The Jimny 5-door SUV is powered by a single 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine that cranks out 103bhp of maximum power at 6,000rpm and 134Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. On offer are a 4-speed automatic torque converter gearbox as well as a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both gearbox options will be available for the Zeta and Alpha versions.
In addition, the Jimny also includes a standard AllGrip Pro 4WD system, consisting of a manual transfer case and a low-range gearbox with 2WD-high, 4WD-high & 4WD-low modes.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door: Performance & Range
In terms of mileage, the manual variants of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door return a fuel efficiency of 16.94km/l (ARAI-certified). While the automatic variants are claimed to have a fuel efficiency of 16.39km/l. With a fuel tank capacity of 40 litres, the manual and automatic units of the Jimny can reach 678km and 656km, respectively.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door: Price, Rivals
In the Indian market, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is priced between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 15.05 lakh for the top-spec Alpha variant. Prices are ex-showroom. At this price point, it takes on the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha.
