After Hyundai and Honda informed their dealerships about the new prices earlier this week, Maruti-Suzuki also has increased the prices of its cars by 3.5%.

After the excise duty got hiked by 4% and most of the manufacturers decided to put the entire burden on the consumers, Maruti-Suzuki has decided to share some burden. India’s leading carmaker has decided to increase the prices of all its models by 3.5% and the company will take the burden of 0.5% on its shoulders.

According to the new price list, the price of a Maruti-Suzuki Alto has gone up by Rs. 9,744 (3.53%) whereas a new Swift will be dearer by Rs. 15,883 (3.59). The slightly elongated version, DZire, will now come by paying Rs. 17,509 (3.6%) extra.  Wagon R will cost Rs. 12,538 (3.56%) extra and the Ertiga will attract Rs. 18,768 (3.13%) more.

As we wrote yesterday, Hyundai increased the retail prices of its cars up to Rs. 1,27,000 in case of Santa Fe and Honda too joined the bandwagon by increasing the prices up to Rs. 60,000. This is quite contradictory on Hyundai’s part as the price hike for the Hyundai boils down to 5.83% which is a lot more than the excise duty hike.
