Maruti Suzuki will start accepting online bookings for the Ignis from January 1, 2017. More details of the Ignis have also been revealed. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming hatchback.
Maruti Suzuki has officially revealed the production version of the upcoming Ignis at the product’s preview event, and has revealed details about the vehicle as well. Targeting young buyers, christened as “Millennials” by Maruti Suzuki, the Igneous will feature a global design language, and modern equipment and safety features as well.
Equipped with projector headlamps with LED DRLs, fog lamps with chrome inserts, dynamic Day light Opening (DLO) on a body that has been designed to be a hatchback with an SUV-like stance which sits on 15-inch black alloy wheels. The Ignis gets Suzuki’s Signature Progressive Triad Mark on the C-pillar as well. Additionally, customers will also be offered numerous personalisation options like roof wraps.
The Ignis gets a black and ivory dual tone interior with a floating layered dashboard, carbon fibre textured louvers and inserts which match the car’s exterior paint. The infotainment system is identical to the ones found in the latest cars from Maruti. The screen in the Ignis is like a floating tablet mounted on the dashboard which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Powering the Ignis will be a K-Series 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder VVT petrol motor and a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder DDiS diesel engine. Both powertrains will be offered with a 5-speed manual, as well as, an AGS automatic option.
Safety equipment like dual airbags and Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) will come as standard and ISOFIX child seat restraint anchors will also be available. Additionally, the Ignis has been designed to comply for pedestrian safety, side, rear and offset impact regulations.
The Ignis will be sold though Maruti’s NEXA channel online bookings for the car will begin from January 1, 2017. The official launch date set by Maruti is January 13, and we expect it to be priced around the Rs. 5 lakh mark.
