At the Auto Expo 2023, Maruti Suzuki, the largest automaker in India, unveiled the new Fronx and the Jimny 5-door models. Since bookings for these sport utility vehicles got underway on January 12, there have been over 25,000 bookings overall. The prices of these SUVs will be officially announced by Maruti Suzuki in the upcoming fiscal year (FY 2023-24). The carmaker is taking reservations for the Jimny 5-door and the Fronx both offline at its Nexa dealerships across the country and online at the Nexa website. The Fronx can be reserved for Rs 11,000, while the Jimny 5-door can be booked for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Maruti Suzuki recently confirmed that the Jimny and the Fronx have so far received 17,000 and 6,500 confirmed bookings, respectively.

Speaking of the brand-new Maruti Suzuki Fronx, more than 6,500 reservations have been made for the model to date, averaging between 250 and 350 bookings per day. Shashank Srivastava, Maruti Suzuki India's Senior Executive Officer, provided the information. Upon launch, the Fronx will be Maruti Suzuki's most affordable sub-compact SUV, with prices likely starting at Rs 7.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Baleno premium hatchback, which the company sells through its Nexa stores in India, is the basis for the Fronx crossover SUV. The manufacturer is using the Fronx's contemporary design aesthetic to appeal to young Indian consumers. The Fronx will compete against some of the best compact SUVs in the Indian market such as the Tata Punch, the Renault Kiger, the Citroen C3, and the Nissan Magnite.
Mechanically, a 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet Dual VVT engine that produces 113Nm of peak torque at 4,400rpm and 89bhp of maximum power at 6,000rpm, and a 1.0-litre K-Series turbo petrol engine that generates 147.6Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,500rpm and 99bhp of power at 5,500rpm will both be offered as options for the Fronx compact SUV. While the latter will receive both a six-speed automatic and a five-speed manual transmission, the former will be available with both a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes in five trim levels: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. The compact SUV will be available in six monochromatic and three dual-tone colour schemes. Nexa Blue, Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, and Splendid Silver are among the monotone colour options. Earthen Brown with Bluish Black, Opulent Red with Bluish Black, and Splendid Silver with Bluish Black are among the dual-tone colour options.
The new Fronx appears to be a compact version of its elder sibling, the Grand Vitara. It has a grille similar to the Grand Vitara, but it is not surrounded by chrome garnishes. Instead, it has a single broad chrome strip in the centre that also holds the Suzuki symbol. Furthermore, because of the squared-off wheel arches, the Fronx is significantly more powerful and muscular than its hatchback sibling. The Fronx has significantly more ground clearance than the Baleno, as well as larger overall dimensions.

Faux leather, a wireless car charger, a head-up display, a 360-degree rear view camera, an automatic air conditioner, a reverse parking camera, and a host of other comfort features are also included.
The Fronx's price is yet to be announced by Maruti Suzuki. In addition, the brand is currently testing a CNG variant of the Fronx, which could be launched alongside the petrol variants. Currently, Maruti Suzuki is concentrating on the market for CNG vehicles.
