The Maruti Suzuki Fronx, the compact SUV based on the Baleno, has crossed the 1.50 lakh-unit sales mark. The Fronx went on sale in India in 2023, and it took nearly 14 months for the SUV to achieve this milestone. According to Maruti Suzuki, 1 lakh units of the Fronx came in 10 months, while the next 50,000 units were sold in just 4 months.
Since April 2023, Maruti Suzuki delivered 1,34,735 units of the Fronx in the financial year ending March 2024. Moreover, in April 2024 alone, more than 14,000 units (14,286, to be precise) of the Fronx went to home buyers, taking the count to 1,49,021 units (1,34,735 units + 14,286 units). We surmise that the remaining 979 units would have been covered in the first few days of the following month.

With 14,286 units sold in April 2024, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx became the best-selling Nexa model, even outperforming the Baleno (14,049 units). However, the Baleno was the highest-selling Nexa model in FY2024 with 1,95,607 units, while the Fronx secured the second spot with 1,34,735 units.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Key Contributor to Company's Exports
On the exports front, the Fronx emerged as a key contributor too, with Maruti Suzuki shipping over 11,000 units of the SUV in just 9 months since exports from India to various international markets began. The first batch of 556 vehicles was shipped from ports in Mundra, Mumbai, and Pipavav to destinations in Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
All this came despite the Fronx being part of the hotly contested compact SUV segment, which includes models such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Exter, Kia’s Sonet, and the new Mahindra XUV 3XO. Thanks to its sporty styling, modern technology, and an all-new 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet petrol engine, the Fronx remains popular amongst SUV buyers.
