Maruti has refreshed the Ertiga with a new front end design, more equipment in higher end variants, safety features are now spread across variants and the diesel model gets the company’s SHVS mild hybrid system
Spy shots of the face-lifted Maruti Suzuki Ertiga have been doing the rounds for quite a while now. The company has now finally launched the much awaited model with prices ranging between Rs. 5.99 lakh to Rs. 9.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The refreshed Ertiga gets a new front end design with a new front end design featuring a new chrome grille, and new bumper with a different air dam and fog lamp housings with chrome garnish. The side profile of the MPV remains identical to the earlier model apart from new 10 spoke alloy wheels. The rear profile too is the same as the outgoing model, apart from a thick slab of chrome garnish over the license plate housing.
Interiors of the face-lifted Ertiga are the same as the original model apart from the new CarPlay infotainment system that does duty in newer Maruti models such as the Ciaz, S-Cross and Baleno. The silver plastic trim above the recess in the dashboard ahead of the front passenger is no longer present. Z+ variants get keyless start stop and reverse camera. V variants get rear parking sensors and height adjustable front seats while front seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, anti-lock braking with electronic brake force distribution and front airbags are standard on the Ertiga from the LXi (O) variants.
A double-DIN stereo with Bluetooth connectivity and steering mounted controls is available from the V variants, while the top-end Z+ variants get the CarPlay touch screen infotainment system with satellite navigation and reverse camera display.
Mechanically, the updated Maruti Suzuki Ertiga retains the same powertrain options which consist of a 1.4 litre, four cylinder petrol engine developing 91bhp of max power and 130Nm of peak torque. Gearbox options include a five-speed manual gearbox and a four-speed CVT automatic unit.
The diesel Ertiga now packs in Suzuki’s new SHVS mild hybrid system with idle start/stop technology, engine power assist and brake energy recuperation which gives the MPV an ARAI rated efficiency figure of 20.77 km/l. The unit develops 88bhp of max power and 200Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
