The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Brezza topped the sales chart in the SUV segment for February 2023. It dethroned the Tata Nexon, which previously held the position for almost a year. Reportedly, 3.35 lakh units of passenger vehicles were sold wholesale in February 2023, up 10.6% from 3.03 lakh units in the corresponding month of the previous year. Although almost all car segments experienced significant YoY growth, SUV sales continued to dominate the market. Coming to the best-selling SUV last month, Maruti Suzuki Brezza conquered over not only the Tata siblings- the Nexon and the Punch but also the Hyundai Creta, the Venue, the Kia Sonet, and more. Maruti Suzuki Brezza
With sales of 15,787 units, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza topped the SUV sales segment in the past month. In January 2023, only 14,359 units of the sub-compact SUV were sold by the carmaker, which represented a significant MoM growth. The SUV gained the first spot in the past month's sales chart by beating the Tata Nexon, which came in second place with 13,914 units in February 2023.
Tata Nexon
Tata Motors, a homegrown manufacturer, reported selling 13,914 units of the Nexon in February 2023. Last year at the same time, it sold 12,259 units of the SUV, representing a YoY growth of 14%. Although the SUV lost its spot to Maruti Suzuki's new Brezza model, it still garnered impressive sales the previous month.

Tata Punch
The Tata Punch registered sales of 11,169 units in February 2023. In the previous year, same month, only 9,592 units were dispatched, depicting a YoY growth of 16%. The Punch SUV reported 12,006 units in January of this year, marking a decline on an MoM basis.
Hyundai Creta
The solely mid-size SUV that managed to find its position in the sales chart of February 2023 was the Hyundai Creta. The carmaker registered sales of 10,421 units of the SUV in February 2023, compared to the 9,606 units in the same month the previous year, marking a YoY growth of 8%. On an MoM basis, the Creta witnessed a decline. In January 2023, the carmaker sold 15,037 units of the mid-size SUV.
Hyundai Venue
The Hyundai Venue experienced a dip in YoY sales. It registered sales of 9,997 in February 2023, compared to 10,212 at the same time last year, representing a YoY decline of 2%. The SUV was followed by the Kia Sonet, the Mahindra Bolero, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and more.

According to reports, SUVs held roughly 43% of the country's passenger vehicle (PV) market share in February 2023.
