Expect the face-lifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno to have some cosmetic changes and feature updates
Since its launch in 2015, Maruti Suzuki hasn’t quite given the Baleno a substantial update. The Manesar-based firm has added a few more variants and introduced a new variant, during this time. While the car has been bringing great numbers for the brand, to keep the momentum going, it is going to need a mid-life update. Maruti Suzuki is likely to bring in the face-lifted Baleno around mid-2019.
Expect the 2019 Baleno to sport minor cosmetic changes. It is likely to come with redesigned front and rear bumpers, re-profiled headlamps with LED fog lamps. Just like the recently launched Ciaz, the Baleno too will come with a speed alert system and a seat belt reminder as standard. Maruti Suzuki may also fit it with a new set of alloy wheels.
Mechanically, however, it is likely to remain unchanged. The 2019 Baleno will continue to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol motor that delivers 83bhp and 115Nm. The diesel, on the other hand, will continue with the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre mill pumping out 74bhp and 190Nm. Both engines come paired with a 5-speed manual while petrol also gets a CVT option.
With the additional features and cosmetic updates, the Baleno is sure to demand a premium over the current model. The Baleno has been among the highest selling cars for the brand – in the first half of FY2018-19, the car has registered a sale of over 1.1 lakh units.
