Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall for over 2,500 units of the Alto K10 due to a potential issue with the steering gearbox assembly. Though the carmaker hasn't disclosed the manufacturing year of the affected cars, it has announced that authorized dealerships would contact the customers for inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the faulty component at no cost. The company has also advised customers to not drive the vehicle until the defective part is replaced. The Alto K10 is currently priced between Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 5.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It comes in four core variants: Std, LXi, VXi, and VXi Plus.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10: Key Specifications
The hatchback is powered by a 1-litre Dualjet petrol engine with 66bhp and 89Nm, which is compatible with both a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. A CNG option is also available. The Alto K10 has steering-mounted controls, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, manually adjustable ORVMs, keyless entry, and a semi-digital instrument cluster. It is equipped with a reversing camera, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, and ABS with EBD for safety.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10: July 2024 Sales
In July 2024, the Alto ranked 20th on the list of best-selling cars. The hatchback sold 7,353 units last month, registering an increase of 4% from July 2023's total of 7099 units.

Other Highlights
In July 2024, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,75,041 units, a 3.63% drop from the 1,81,630 units sold in the same month the year before. Of this total, the company provided 23,985 units abroad, 10,702 units to other OEMs, and 1,40,354 units domestically. The overall domestic sales for the passenger vehicle (PV) category in July of this year reached 1,37,463 units, a decline of 9.64% from the 1,52,126 units sold in the same month last year. However, the exports increased by 8.05% to 23,985 units last month.
