Selling 1,16,606 cars this January, Maruti Suzuki’s sales figures grew by 14% over the figures of last January.
India’s biggest carmaker – Maruti Suzuki – grew in the month of January by 14% over January last year. Where it sold 1,02,416 units last January, it sold 1,16,606 units in January 2015.
Where the domestic sales increased by 9.3% to 1,05,559 units against 96,569 units sold in January 2014. The carmaker did exceptionally well in the export market though. The export market saw a growth of 88.9% to 11,047 units where Maruti exported 5,847 units in January 2014.
The small car segment didn’t quite give encouraging results to Maruti as its small cars like Alto and WagonR saw a decline of 7.3% to 35,750 units. The company had sold 38,565 units of these two cars in January last year.
The segment consisting of Swift, Estilo, Ritz and Dzire grew by 7.5% to 45,881 units against 42,669 units sold last January.
The latest addition to the Maruti family, Maruti Ciaz, launched in October last year, found 6,005 buyers.
Surprisingly, the lot consisting of Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga saw a growth of 35% at 6,432 units this January from 4,763 units in the corresponding month last year.
Commercial vehicles like Omni and Eeco rose by 8.2% to 10,113 units in January 2015 against 9,345 units in the same period in 2014.
