Mahindra has silently launched the automatic version of XUV500 fitted with the 1.99-litre engine for the Delhi-NCR market.
Mahindra XUV500 is now available with an automatic transmission in the Delhi-NCR region. Following the ban on diesel engines above 2,000cc in Delhi/NCR, Mahindra had introduced a smaller 1.99-litre engine for its vehicles sold in this part of the country earlier this year. The automatic version of the XUV500 fitted with the 1.99-litre engine will be offered in three front-wheel drive variants - W6, W8 and W10. AWD automatic variants are only available with the 2.2-litre engine and hence are not available in Delhi/NCR at the moment.
For the automatic variant, the 1.99-litre unit remains unchanged. This means it develops 138bhp of maximum power at 3,750rpm and serves 320Nm of peak torque between 1,600 – 2,800rpm. The automatic gearbox is a 6-speed unit sourced from Aisin. The 2.2-litre version uses the same gearbox as well.
All the three variants are equipped like their manual counterparts. The top-end W10 automatic version misses out on micro-hybrid technology and brake-regeneration system though, which is available on the W10 manual variant. Conversely, the W6 automatic gets ESP (electronic stability program) and hill hold/hill descent control while the respective W6 manual does not get these systems.
Expect Mahindra to launch the automatic version of the Scorpio in the region as well since it will essentially use the same drivetrain.
Prices (ex-showroom, Delhi) of the Delhi-NCR specific automatic variants are as follows,
W6 AT – Rs 14.51 lakh
W8 AT – Rs 15.94 lakh
W10 AT (FWD) – Rs 17.32 lakh
