Mahindra XUV400 Gets 5-star Crash Test Safety Rating from Bharat NCAP: Watch Video

In addition to the Mahindra XUV400, the Thar Roxx and the XUV 3XO have also scored a perfect 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests.

The Mahindra XUV400 EV has achieved a perfect 5-star safety rating in the most recent round of Bharat NCAP crash tests. In Adult Occupant Protection, the electric SUV scored 30.38 points out of 32. During the frontal offset deformable barrier and side moveable deformable barrier testing, the car earned 14.38/16.00 and 16/16 respectively. All of the driver's and co-passenger's body parts showed good protection, during the frontal offset deformable barrier examination, except for the driver's left leg and chest, which had adequate protection. Meanwhile, the side movable deformable barrier test demonstrated that the passenger's entire body was well protected.

Talking about Child Occupant Protection, the Mahindra SUV scored 43 out of 49. It obtained 24 out of 24 for dynamic score and 12 out of 12 for CRS installation. The SUV also scored 7 out of 13 on the vehicle assessment. The XUV400 received an 8/8 in front impact and a 4/4 in side impact for a child aged 18 months protection. In contrast, the EV achieved an 8/8 for front collision and a 4/4 for side impact for a three-year-old child protection. 

In addition to the Mahindra XUV400, Bharat NCAP crash-tested the recently announced Thar Roxx and the updated XUV300, the XUV 3XO. Notably, both SUVs received a perfect five-star rating during the safety test. 

Mahindra XUV400: Key Specifications

The Mahindra XUV400 EV comes with two battery pack options and a single electric motor. The electric motor produces 310Nm and 150bhp. The smaller 34.5kWh battery has a range of 375 kilometres, while the larger 39.4kWh battery offers a range of 456 kilometres. The Mahindra EV can go 0 to 100km/h in under 8.3 seconds.

For safety, the Mahindra XUV400 gets ESP, two airbags, ABS with EBD, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and rear parking sensors. The top-of-the-line variant also adds a reverse camera, six airbags, automatic headlights, and rain-sensing wipers. The SUV is priced between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 19.39 lakh (both, ex-showroom).
