Mahindra XUV300 recently celebrated its fourth anniversary. This subcompact SUV was launched in the country on February 14, 2019, and boasted several segment-first features. The XUV300 has received minor updates over the years in order to remain competitive in the market, and more than 1.85 lakh units of this SUV have been sold to date. The XUV300's robust market potential was demonstrated in its very first month of launch. With a launch price of Rs 7.9 lakh (ex-showroom), the business received 13,000 reservations in the first 28 days, averaging 464 reservations per day. It, therefore, came as no surprise that the XUV300 drove itself into the Top 3 rankings for compact SUVs in just one month. May 14, 2019, three months after the Mahindra XUV300's launch, saw more than 26,000 bookings.
The XUV300 passed the Global NCAP crash test eight months later, in January 2020, earning five stars for adult occupant protection and four stars for child occupant protection, the highest combined score at the time in the #SaferCarsForIndia crash tests. Indian car buyers are becoming more aware of the need for safer vehicles, so the XUV300's impressive crash test results have helped to drive up sales as well.

The XUV300 sold a total of 37,576 units in FY2020. The numbers decreased slightly to 35,965 units in FY2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but they quickly rebounded to break the 50,000-unit barrier in FY2022. Demand is still high, and 52,449 units have been sold in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, surpassing the 50,260 units of FY2022. The month of October 2022 saw the highest monthly sales this fiscal, 6,282 units. The XUV300 finished CY2022 with a total of 60,260 units sold, placing it 12th among the top 25 utility vehicles in India. It is one of the top five in the compact SUV category. The XUV300 has helped the automaker increase its overall utility vehicle market share, along with other Mahindra SUVs like the flagship XUV700, the Scorpio N and the Scorpio Classic, the Thar, the Bolero, and the Bolero Neo. In the period from April to December 2022, Mahindra has increased its UV share by three basis points, from 14.37 per cent to 17.54 per cent.
There is currently a 28-week waiting period for the Mahindra XUV300 in some cities. Its popularity can be attributed, among other things, to the Mahindra brand, a roomy cabin, fine powertrain options, reasonably good features, and a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP.
Two petrol turbocharged engines and a diesel engine power the Mahindra XUV300. A 1.5-litre diesel engine churning out 115bhp and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine is included in its standard variants. Both a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed AMT are available as transmissions. A 6-speed MT is paired with a 1.2-litre GDI turbocharged petrol engine in the XUV300 TurboSport, which produces 130bhp and 230Nm.
