Mahindra has finally added the missing piece to its XUV300 line-up with the launch of the much-awaited XUV300 autoSHIFT AMT.

The already-popular XUV300 has gained a big weapon in its arsenal – the AMT version of the XUV300 compact SUV, which has been launched at ₹11.50 lakh. However, the AMT option will remain restricted to the car's diesel derivatives, and will only be available in the top-end W8 & W8 (O) trims. While the former carries a price tag of ₹11.50 lakh, the W8 (O) AMT has been priced at ₹12.70 lakh. This means that both AMT variants carry a premium of ₹55,000 over their manual transmission counterparts (all prices are ex-showroom). Further, the XUV300 AMT will only be available in three colour options – Pearl White, Aquamarine & Red Rage.

While the 6-speeder AMT box is mated to the same 1.5-litre turbo diesel unit, the power & torque figures remain unchanged at 115bhp & 300Nm. However, Mahindra claims that the Magneti Marelli-sourced box brings numerous additional features, 10 to be precise. Powered by Mahindra's autoSHIFT technology, the new AMT unit offers driving aids like a vehicle creep function (gentle car movement without throttle in first & reverse gear), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), kick-down shifts, a down-hill descent mode & a Driver Information System with Gear Display. The ESC also comes with a Hill-Start Assist, which allows the car to accelerate from standstill on a hill, without rolling back.

There's also the addition of a few safety features, like Drive and Reverse Lock-Out, which prevents sudden shifts between reverse & forward drive gears at speeds beyond 5 km/h, Creep disable on Door Opening, which prevents the vehicle from moving if the doors are open, anti-engine stall and a Clutch Abuse Detection feature. Interests of manual enthusiasts have also been looked after, as the autoSHIFT AMT also offers a manual shift mode.

Sharing his thoughts on the debut of the XUV300 AMT, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales and Marketing (Automotive Division) at M&M said, ‘At Mahindra, it has been our constant endeavour to offer advanced and accessible technologies to all our customers, and we are delighted to introduce the autoSHIFT in the XUV300 for that perfect blend of effortless driving and exhilarating performance. After receiving an overwhelming response for its manual version since its launch in February 2019, we are confident that the XUV300 autoSHIFT will further strengthen the brand’s value proposition and expand the market for us.’
