The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), introduced in October 2023 by the government of India, conducts crash tests to evaluate the safety of vehicles in the event of an accident or harm, and award stars based on their performance. A 5-star crash test safety rating, like the one recently awarded to the Mahindra XUV 3XO (or the XUV300 facelift), points to the highest possible score. According to a video dropped on BNCAP's YouTube channel, the Mahindra XUV 3XO – launched nearly seven months ago – was able to achieve the highest safety ratings for both adult and child occupant protection. The rating is for the AX7 L and MX2 variants of the XUV 3XO. Let's take a closer look at the results of the XUV 3XO:
Mahindra XUV 3XO Adult Occupant Protection Results
The Mahindra XUV 3XO received 29.36 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP), where the driver's chest was adequately protected in the event of an offset frontal impact with a deformable barrier. However, protection for the co-driver's chest was 'good'. The testers further noted that although the co-driver's feet received good protection, adequate to marginal protection was given to the driver's legs.
