All-electric Mahindra e Verito sedan to be launched on the 2nd of June in the National Capital.
Homegrown car maker Mahindra has just announced that it will be launching its second all-electric passenger car in the country, the e Verito. The Mahindra e Verito as mentioned earlier is an all-electric version of the Verito sedan. With all of the ruckus against diesel cars created by the National Green Tribunal, the launch of the electric Mahindra Verito will be welcomed with open arms no doubt.
The Mahindra e Verito will be powered by a 29kW electric motor that is claimed to generate 39bhp of max power and with a fully charged battery is claimed to have a driving range of 100 kilometers. The Mahindra e Verito is also claimed to have a top speed of 85 km/h. As per Mahindra, the lithium ion battery pack takes seven hours to be fully charged.
Apart from the zero emissions powertrain, expect the Mahindra Verito electric to remain much the same as its diesel powered sibling. Changes will be visible in terms of styling and trim options to set it apart from the standard model.
Mahindra had originally showcased the electric Verito way back at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. And the picture you see above is indeed from that time. The car featured some mild styling enhancements in the form of stickering and plastic cladding on the doors. The current Verito looks a little different from the model showcased then and this should reflect in the soon to be launched all-electric model as well.
The Mahindra e Verito is expected to be priced at around Rs. 13.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Although, the recent cut in Value Added Tax for Hybrid and Electric cars from 12.5 per cent to 5 per cent by the Delhi government should bring down the price of the upcoming electric Mahindra sedan in the capital.
