The Mahindra Thar.e concept made its debut on a worldwide scale in South Africa. The forthcoming SUV, which will have the new Mahindra logo and ride on the INGLO-P1 platform, has a futuristic appearance. It has a boxy build and seems like an authentic off-road vehicle. The upcoming electric model will be built on the skateboard architecture, unlike the present Thar, which is based on a ladder-on-frame chassis. There is no concrete information by brand regarding the e-SUV, but it is anticipated to have a wheelbase between 2,776mm and 2,976mm. Due to its around 300mm of ground clearance, the electric vehicle also claims to be able to manage uneven roads with ease.
Mahindra hasn't provided any information regarding the launch timeline, but industry reports indicate that the Thar electric model won't be hitting the market any time soon. However, the homegrown automaker will introduce four new electric SUVs in India, including the XUV.e8, which is anticipated to launch by December 2024, the XUV.e9, which is reportedly scheduled to launch by April 2025, the BE 05, which is anticipated to launch in October 2025, and the BE 07, which is probably going to debut around April 2026.

Mahindra Thar.e: Design
In terms of appearance, the e-SUV looks more futuristic than the gasoline-powered version. It sports an upright nose finished in glossy black paint and square LED headlamps with rounded corners. The electric SUV has a front bumper made of steel that enhances its tough appearance. When viewed from the side, the electric Thar seems longer and has an additional set of doors. It also has big alloy wheels with squared-off wheel arches. The Mahindra Thar.e receives a spare wheel on the tailboard and angular LED taillamps, just like the current-generation vehicle.
The off-road vehicle will also have a multi-functional, three-spoke steering wheel with a flat top and bottom. Furthermore, mounted controls and a centre "Thar.e" logo will also be present. Strong grab handles, squarish bucket seats, and asymmetrical red accents will all be present in the interior, adding to its sporty appearance. Other notable interior features will likely be a huge touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, and more.
Mahindra Thar.e: Powertrain
Although the domestic automaker has not yet provided any information regarding the powertrain details, market rumours suggest that the upcoming e-SUV will be equipped with two motors and a 4WD system. Most likely, it will gain a bigger battery pack to better support its off-road skills.
Mahindra Thar.e: Price Expectation
While it is too early to comment on price, the e-SUV, according to industry estimates, may come with an ex-showroom starting price of about Rs 25 lakh.
