While the new Mahindra Thar Roxx is a direct competitor to off-road vehicles such as the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Force Gurkha 5-door, it serves as a powerful and premium alternative to compact SUVs in India, including the Creta. Mahindra Thar Roxx vs Hyundai Creta: Engine
The Thar Roxx and the Creta can be had with either petrol or diesel engines. While the Mahindra SUV comes with a single turbocharged petrol engine with two distinct power outputs, the Hyundai SUV has two petrol variants (a naturally aspirated and a turbocharged unit). Compared to the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine in the Creta, the Thar Roxx features a larger 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, providing a significant increase in power and torque outputs of 17bhp and 127Nm, respectively. The diesel unit of Mahindra's 5-door model is also more powerful than Creta's diesel unit by 59bhp and 120Nm. The Thar SUV is available with both RWD and 4WD, while the Hyundai model only has a front-wheel-drive.

Mahindra Thar Roxx vs Hyundai Creta: Features
Although both SUVs are well-equipped, the Creta SUV goes one step ahead with features like rear window sunshades, a sunglass holder, and a 2-step reclining rear seat. It also surpasses the Mahindra SUV with amenities like remote engine start, telescopic steering wheel adjustment, keyless entry, and paddle shifters. However, the Thar outperforms its competitor with larger 19-inch alloy wheels. For reference, the Creta rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels. In terms of safety, both models are nearly the same, with features like TPMS, ADAS, and six airbags.

Mahindra Thar Roxx vs Hyundai Creta: Price
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available in six core variants: MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L, and AX7L. The Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, comes in seven different trim levels: E, EX, S, S(O), SX, SX Tech, and SX(O). The Thar SUV costs between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs. 20.49 lakh. These prices are exclusive to RWD models. In comparison, the Creta SUV is priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 20.15 lakh.
