Mahindra has finally announced the price of the most anticipated car of the year, the Thar 5-door, dubbed the Thar Roxx. The petrol manual version costs Rs 12.99 lakh, while the diesel manual version costs Rs 13.99 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom figures. Mahindra, however, has not yet disclosed all of the SUV's specifications; these will be disclosed tomorrow.
Several details regarding the upcoming 5-door model have surfaced in recent months. The SUV has become considerably more practical with the new iteration. The Mahindra Thar Roxx has a front fascia similar to the three-door version of the car. This incorporates a new vertical six-slat grille, C-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and a headlamp cluster. To add uniqueness, the SUV boasts an aggressive dual-tone bumper in silver and black. This bumper also has fog lamps at the corners. The car has wide wheel arches with LED indicators to go along with this. The rear end features rectangular taillights, similar to the three-door variant with the 'Thar' emblem in the centre. Mahindra Thar Roxx: Platform Details
First off, the Scorpio-N and Thar 5-door use the same platform. This platform is a significantly altered variant of the 3-door Thar's ladder-on-frame chassis. Furthermore, the SUV sports a solid metal roof. The body is made of high-strength steel, and some parts, like the pillar, are stronger than in the company's earlier versions.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Feature Set
A sophisticated, fully digital instrument cluster is included with the Mahindra Thar Roxx. The driver can customise the cluster's arrangement to suit their preferences. The feature list comprises a panoramic sunroof, electronic steering wheel, ventilated seats with leatherette upholstery, automatic AC, Harman Kardon sound system, USB charging port, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, push-button start, a 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, manual day/night IRVM, 60:40 split rear seat, adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). It further has six airbags, an electronic stability control (ESC), three-point seatbelts for all passengers, and ADAS Level 2 features like Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control for enhanced safety.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Powertrain Options
Coming to the mechanical side of things, a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which produces 148bhp of maximum power and 330Nm of peak torque in the base-spec MX1 variant, powers the Thar Roxx. With 158bhp of power and 330Nm of torque, the 2.0-litre turbocharged unit powers the MX1 petrol. A manual gearbox with six speeds is coupled with both. Mahindra has not yet disclosed the engine specs for the mid-and top-spec models, which will come in a higher state of tune and with the option of an automatic as well as 4x4.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Competition Check
As for competitors, the SUV will rival the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door and the Force Gurkha 5-door, and it will serve as an alternative to the Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and MG Astor.
