The Mahindra Thar Roxx has received a perfect 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. The recently launched SUV scored 31.09 out of 32 for adult protection and 45 out of 49 for child protection. The AX5L and MX3 variants were the ones tested. For adult safety, the SUV earned 15.09 out of 16 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and a full 16 out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. While the driver's chest and lower legs showed adequate protection, the rest of the body was well protected.

Moving on to child occupant safety, the Thar SUV earned a score of 24 and a CRS installation score of 12, with a Vehicle Assessment Score of 9. Notably, these ratings apply to all Thar Roxx variants produced from November 2024 onward. Two other Mahindra models, the XUV400 and 3XO, also earned 5-star ratings in the crash tests.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Safety and Other Features
On the safety front, the Thar 5-door boasts six airbags, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, hill ascent and descent control, electronic stability control (ESC), and seatbelt reminder. The ADAS package adds advanced features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and a 360-degree surround view system with a blind view monitor.
Coming to the interior, there are two theme options: the Classic Ivory and a new Dark Mocha Brown. In terms of features, the Thar includes ventilated seats with leatherette upholstery, a fully digital instrument cluster, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine Options
The new Thar is offered in six different variants: MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L, and AX7L. It provides two engine options – a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel.
For handling transmission duties, there is a choice between a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic. The petrol variants are available solely with rear-wheel drive, while the diesel variants offer an optional 4x4 system, complete with a low-range transfer case.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Price Range
The off-roader is available in RWD variants, priced from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh, while the 4WD variant is priced between Rs 18.79 lakh and Rs 22.49 lakh, all ex-showroom. It competes with the Force Gurkha 5-door and Maruti Suzuki Jimny. Pricing-wise, it also faces off against models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
