Mahindra Thar Roxx: Design Details
The automaker's GLYDE platform, boasting over 60 patents and promising far better NVH levels, underpins the Mahindra Thar Roxx. The homegrown carmaker has been releasing pictures of the new car in the lead-up to its launch, so most of the design details were already out. The five-door SUV has fog lights integrated into the front bumper and spherical LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs. To add uniqueness, it boasts an aggressive dual-tone bumper in silver and black. Additionally, a new painted grille with a six-slot design is added. Along with its triangular rear quarter glass, the SUV also has an inclined C-pillar. The overall style, however, remains consistent with the boxy and upright stance of the three-door version, with both SUVs sharing many design components. The rear end has rectangular taillights like the three-door model, with a 'Thar' emblem in the centre. Mahindra has also fitted new alloy wheels to the new Thar.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Interior Features
The Thar Roxx has a plethora of amenities inside, including a panoramic sunroof, a Harman Kardon audio system, ventilated seats with leatherette upholstery, reclining rear seats, a sophisticated fully digital instrument cluster, automated climate control, electronic steering wheel, USB charging port, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, push-button start, a 360-degree camera, manual day/night IRVM, 60:40 split rear seat, adjustable driver seat, noise cancellation, dual-zone climate control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear air conditioning vents, three terrain modes (sand, mud, and snow), and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display.
Furthermore, the new Thar receives IntelliTurn Assist and CrawlSmart technology. This reduces the turning circle diameter by 15% while simultaneously providing intelligent braking of the inner wheel when turning the car. The CrawlSmart system assists in taking automatic control of the engine, brakes, and gearbox, resulting in a better driving experience through difficult terrain.
The SUV has six airbags, ISOFIX child seats, electronic stability control (ESC), and standard three-point seatbelts for every passenger. You also get ADAS Level 2 features like Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control for enhanced safety.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine Options
In terms of engine choices, Mahindra has stated that the Thar Roxx will be available with a 2.2-litre, 150bhp diesel engine, and a 2.0-litre, 160bhp turbocharged petrol engine. Both engines have a 330Nm peak torque output rating. In comparison to its three-door sibling, the petrol Thar Roxx gains 10bhp and 30Nm, while the diesel version gains 20bhp and 30Nm. A manual and an automatic gearbox with six speeds is coupled to both mills.
