Mahindra plans to launch its new Thar Roxx SUV on August 15 in India. While previous teasers reveal the exterior of the SUV, the latest teaser confirms the presence of a fully digital instrument cluster, along with a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay – which is likely to be borrowed from the new Mahindra XUV 3XO. Thanks to a soft-touch leatherette finish on the dashboard, the interior of the vehicle looks more premium. Other bits include ventilated seats, beige upholstery, automatic climate control, a Harman Kardon music system, and a panoramic sunroof. We expect higher variants of the Thar Roxx to get a panoramic roof, among other premium features, while the lower- and mid-spec variants could come with a single-pane sunroof.
In terms of safety, the Thar Roxx could be equipped with up to six airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry, cruise control, electronic stability control, hill-ascent control, ABS with EBD, as well as an ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) suite.

Compared to the 3-door Thar, the new Thar Roxx (5-door) will be much longer, with two additional doors and a longer wheelbase. At the front, the Roxx will feature updated LED headlamps with C-shaped daytime running lights, as well as a freshly designed grille with Mahindra badging. Along the sides, there will be blacked-out door handles and stylish, dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear end will have an LED tail-lamp setup, rather than halogen units.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine
Under the hood, the Mahindra Thar Roxx could be offered three engine options: 2.0-litre turbo petrol, 2.2-litre diesel, and new 1.5-litre diesel. Expected transmission options are a six-speed manual and an automatic transmission. The Thar Roxx, like its three-door sibling, will receive both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options.
