The Mahindra Thar Roxx, the five-door off-road SUV, has finally arrived on the Indian market after months of anticipation. Positioned above the 3-door Thar, the Thar Roxx carries a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base MX1 petrol-MT variant, whereas its 3-door counterpart starts at Rs 11.35 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available in two configurations spread across 18 variants – 4x2 and 4x4. The Thar Roxx 4x2 ranges from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the prices of the four-wheel drivetrain variants are yet to be revealed. The Thar Roxx stands apart from its 3-door sibling with a new grille, an LED projector headlamp design, re-profiled taillamps, an angular C-pillar design, and two additional doors. Other bits on the Roxx include 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels (higher variants only), vertically positioned door handles for the second row, and a rear wiper and washer.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Powertrain

The Mahindra Thar Roxx gets two engine options – 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel, both in two states of tune. Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The petrol-MT variants make 160bhp and 330Nm, while the Roxx petrol-AT produces 175bhp and 380Nm. On the other hand, the diesel-powered model develops 152bhp/330Nm for the 4x2 variants and 173bhp/370Nm for the 4x4 variants.

As for variant-wise powertrain options, the standard MX1 comes with rear-wheel-drive (RWD) manual options with both engines. The MX3 offers a 160bhp petrol-AT, a 152bhp diesel-MT, and a 173bhp diesel-AT. Moving further up the ladder, the MX5 is the entry point to the Roxx 4x4 family. It gets 5 options under the hood: 160bhp petrol-MT, 160bhp petrol-AT, 150bhp diesel-MT, 150bhp diesel-AT, and 173bhp diesel-MT 4x4. The AX3 L and the AX5 L employ 150bhp diesel-MT and 150bhp diesel-AT/173bhp diesel-AT 4x4, respectively. Finally, the top-spec AX7L can be had with all diesel configurations, but its petrol engine is only mated to an automatic gearbox. Now, take a proper look at the variant-wise pricing:
