Mahindra Thar Roxx: Features
The Mahindra SUV will come with a panoramic sunroof, automatic AC, Harman Kardon sound system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and the XUV 3XO-like large touchscreen infotainment system, with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. It is also expected to include manual day/night IRVM, dual-zone climate control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold and descent control, and Level 2 ADAS, with features such as lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Powertrain
Mahindra has kept the powertrain details for the Thar Roxx under wraps. However, based on speculation, the SUV is expected to offer a choice of three engines: a 2.0-litre turbo petrol, a 2.2-litre diesel, and a new 1.5-litre diesel option. Transmission duties are likely to be handled by either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. Like its three-door sibling, the Thar Roxx is anticipated to come with both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Price and Rivals
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is set to command a premium over its three-door sibling. While the current Thar is priced between Rs 11.35 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom), the five-door Thar Roxx is expected to start at Rs 15 lakh. This price hike is justified by the additional features, larger dimensions, and increased practicality offered by the new model.
Positioning itself as a more family-oriented alternative to the hardcore off-roader, the Thar Roxx will compete directly with the Force Gurkha 5-door. It will also be a compelling option for those considering compact SUVs like the Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and MG Astor.
