Mahindra has officially revealed the exterior and name of the Thar 5-door, which will go on sale in India on August 15, 2024. Called the 'Thar Roxx', the SUV has familiar circular headlamps with upgraded LED projector units and C-shaped DRLs, a new grille with six double-stacked slots, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and C-shaped LED taillights. The interior, however, is missing in the most recent video. Market reports, however, suggest that the 5-door variant will include dual 10.25-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, and rear air conditioning vents, among other features.
Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Sector, M&M Ltd., said, 'The Thar ROXX with its distinctive design, premium quotient, advanced technology, enhanced performance, sophistication, and safety is THE SUV. While retaining the core attributes of the iconic Thar, the Thar ROXX represents the larger-than-life personality of a rockstar and will disrupt the SUV category.'
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Features
The upcoming SUV is expected to come with connected car features via AdrenoX, a rear centre armrest, manual day/night IRVM, dual-zone climate control, button start-stop, and USB type-C charging ports. It is also likely to include a 360-degree surround camera system, front parking sensors, six airbags, ADAS with features like driver drowsiness alert, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control for safety.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Powertrain
The Thar Roxx is speculated to come with three engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo petrol unit, a 2.2-litre diesel unit, and a new 1.5-litre diesel engine. For transmission, these units could get both automatic and manual options. The Thar Roxx is expected to come standard with rear-wheel drive and offer 4WD as an option, similar to the 3-door version.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Price
The existing Mahindra Thar is priced between Rs 11.35 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh in India. With several upgrades over its 3-door counterpart, the 5-door version could start at around Rs 15 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
