India's largest manufacturer of SUVs, Mahindra, has just launched a special edition of the XUV500. This new limited edition is based on the high-end W8 model and is called the XUV500 Sportz. The new XUV500 Sportz will be priced at Rs. 13.85 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi, and along with all the other features already included in the W8, the limited edition will come with added features such as Stylish Sportz Decals, unique alloy wheels with signature red inserts, rear-view camera, sporty leather-fabric seats, fog lamps & door handles with red accents, stylized roof rails in red, and of course the ‘Sportz’ badging. Mahindra has also announced that only 1000 units of the XUV Sportz will be produced.

There will be no mechanical changes to the XUV Sportz and it will still be powered by the 2179cc mHawk Variable Geometry Turbocharged engine that produces 140bhp with 330Nm torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Speaking on the launch, Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer, Mahindra said, “This new offering of the XUV500 Sportz aligns with our leadership position in Indian motor sports & rallying and reflects our sporty DNA very well.  We believe that it will create a new benchmark in exclusivity to further enhance the XUV500's appeal amongst customers.”
