Mahindra has launched the SUV styled compact hatchback, KUV100 in India for Rs. 4.42 lakh ex-showroom Pune.
The KUV100 from Mahindra and Mahindra is the 9th launch for the company this fiscal which has been launched in India at a starting price for the petrol powered version of Rs. 4.42 lakh and the diesel version for Rs. 5.22 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Pune.
The KUV100 will be powered by a 1198cc/ 4-cylinder/MPFI dual VVT petrol engine that produces 82bhp from the mFalcon G80 and produces 115Nm of torque @ 3500-3600rpm. The petrol mFalcon engine claims a fuel economy of 18.15km/l. The mFalcon D75 diesel mill on the KUV100 is a 1198cc/4-cylinder/ turbo charged common rail engine produces 77bhp which is the best in class and 190Nm of torque from 1750-2250rpm. the Diesel version is the most fuel efficient diesel SUV in India with 25.32km/l. The diesel engine gets Power/Eco mode option on the fly for choice of driving preference to the driver which is first in class. the Micro-Hybrid technology helps the car achieve better economy and lower emissions.
The KUV100 is targeted toward the youth who aspire to have an SUV. The interiors is available with 5 or 6 seating options over 7 variants. The entry K2, K4 and K6 variants also have an optional + version kitted out with dual airbags while ABS with EBD is fitted as standard in addition to the K8 top variant. Mahindra says that the KUV100 is ready to meet the automotive safety regulations which are to be implemented in India in 2017.
Styled to look modern and appeal to the youth, the KUV100's headlamps are designed to resemble sunglasses to compliment the sculpted bonnet and the muscular body lines and bold undercuts. The KUV100 gets spider-design alloy wheels, clenched fist-inspired ORVMs, double barrel tail lamps, with a high placed door handle on the exterior for the rear door near the C-pillar. With the roof rails for added style a sporty rear spoiler, the rear bumper has dual colour scheme with sporty mud flaps.
The Mahindra KUV100 has a dual tone dashboard with piano black inserts like its elder brother the TUV300. The floating dashboard gets a joystick-like gearshifter mounted on the lower part of the dashboard. This allows 3 passengers to sit abreast in the front row in addition to the 2nd row. The interiors also get mood lighting inside the door handles, a twin pod instrument cluster and diamond shaped AC vents. the Driver seat gets height adjustable feature, while the rear seats fold completely flat for a total expanded boot space of 437 litres from the standard 243 litres.
Some more features in the vehicle include bluetooth audio and handsfree calling, steering mounted audio and phone controls, BlueSense App compatibility, Follow-me-home headlamps, lead-me-to-vehicle headlamps electronically adjustable ORVMs and remote keyless entry. The KUV100 is available in 7 colours; Designer Grey, Pearl White, Flamboyant Red, Aquamarine, Dazzling Silver, Midnight Black and Fiery Orange.
The KUV100 is Mahindra's latest contender as they enter the segment to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Swift DZire and the Hyundai Grand i10.
