Mahindra recently disclosed the prices for the top-spec variant of the BE 6. Notably, the pricing for the Pack One was already announced during the electric SUV's launch last year. The Pack One is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh, and the Pack Three is available for Rs 26.90 lakh (ex-showroom). At these price points, the BE 6 delivers an impressive array of features and specifications, positioning itself as a highly affordable option in its segment—almost half the price of another popular EV, the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Today, we’ll take a closer look at how the BE 6 stacks up against the Hyundai Ioniq 5, in terms of features, and specifications, to determine which one offers the better deal for your money.

Mahindra BE 6 vs Hyundai Ioniq 5: Battery, Range and Charging

The Mahindra BE 6 has two battery pack options: a 59kWh and a 79kWh, both using LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry to enhance efficiency and safety. The larger battery produces 282bhp, while the smaller battery delivers 227bhp while maintaining a consistent torque output of 380Nm. The Pack 1 variant is equipped with a 59kWh battery, while the top-spec model features the 79kWh pack. The BE 6 is capable of covering up to 682 kilometres on a single charge. In terms of charging, it supports two AC charging options: 11 kW and 7.2 kW. Using the 11 kW AC charger, the SUV takes about 6 hours to charge the 59kWh battery and around 8 hours for the 79kWh variant. With DC Fast Charging, the BE 6 can charge the smaller 59kWh battery from 20 to 80% in 20 minutes using a minimum of 140kW of charging capability. The larger 79kWh battery also achieves a 20 to 80% charge in 20 minutes but requires a minimum of 175kW for optimal speed.

In comparison, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes with a single rear-wheel-drive electric motor mated to a 72.6kWh battery. This setup churns out a maximum power of 216bhp and a peak torque of 350Nm, enabling a range of up to 631 kilometres on a full charge—51 kilometres less than the BE 6. In terms of fast charging, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 stands out with its 350kW charging capability, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes.

The Mahindra BE 6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 are both packed with several features, but the BE 6 distinguishes itself as a more cost-effective choice, delivering a premium set of equipment at a competitive price. It comes with wireless phone chargers, auto park assist, a selfie camera, an augmented reality-based heads-up display, and dual wireless charging—none of which are offered in the Ioniq 5. However, the BE 6 lacks V2L (vehicle-to-load) charging functionality, which is available on the Hyundai model. As for safety, both the BE 6 and the Ioniq 5 pack Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera. The BE 6, however, maintains an upper hand with 7 airbags in its top-spec variant, compared to the 6 airbags in the Ioniq 5.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is 264mm longer than the Mahindra BE 6, resulting in a 225mm longer wheelbase. In contrast, the BE 6 is 17mm wider than the Ioniq 5. Both SUVs are nearly the same in height. When it comes to frunk storage, the Ioniq 5 offers an additional 12 litres of space compared to the BE 6.
