Porsche adds long-wheelbase Executive and new entry-level 3.0-litre V6 engine variants to the second-gen Panamera range.
Roughly five months after the global unveil of the second-generation Panamera, Porsche has added a series of new models to the range. The latest entrants in the Panamera line-up include an Executive long-wheelbase version along with two new entry-level variants, fitted with a brand new 3.0-litre turbo V6 engine.
At the time of its launch earlier this year, the new Panamera was introduced with four engine options, namely - Turbo, 4S, 4S Diesel and 4E-Hybrid. Now joining the quartet is the base Panamera and Panamera 4 trims with a new six-cylinder turbo V6 engine that develops 326bhp – 20bhp more than the preceding 3.6-litre naturally aspirated V6. Like other models in the range, the engine will come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox sending drive to rear-wheels in the base variant and all wheels in the Panamera 4.
The long-wheelbase Panamera Executive is apparently aimed at buyers in China & the USA, who prefer taking the rear seat over the steering wheel of their Porsche. As a result, its wheelbase has been increased by 150mm, liberating more space at the back. In addition to the standard kit on the Panamera models, the Executive also gets a large panoramic roof, heated front- and rear electric seats, and more importantly, air suspension.
Optional extras include a new rear centre-console, which can be clubbed with two integrated folding tables and an inductive antenna connection for an additional smartphone. On top of that, you can equip the car with the latest generation of Porsche Rear Seat Entertainment – two 10.1-inch displays integrated in the backrests of the front seats, which can also be detached and used as tabs. On the outside, the exterior of the Executive versions can be opted with a Sport design package.
Since the long-wheelbase version is “designed as a chauffeur saloon”, it will only be made available in all-wheel drive versions, namely- Panamera 4 Executive, Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Executive, Panamera 4S Executive, and Panamera Turbo Executive.
Porsche will unveil the Panamera Executive in full metal at the upcoming 2016 Los Angeles Motor Show.
