JLR India has begun deliveries of the locally assembled Range Rover Sport SUV. This follows the company's announcement to manufacture the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs in India, making India the first country outside of the UK to roll out the two SUVs. JLR already assembles the Velar, Evoque, Jaguar F-Pace, and Discovery Sport at its Pune facility, which has a production capacity of 10,000 units per year.
The Range Rover Sport's price with local assembly is Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom), the same for both the petrol and diesel versions. The locally assembled Range Rover Sport gets two engine options: the 3.0-litre petrol Dynamic SE, which produces 394bhp and 550Nm, and the 3.0-litre diesel Dynamic SE, which develops 346bhp and 700Nm. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
