Lexus is adding another model to its SUV/crossover lineup. This one will sit somewhere in between the NX and RX.
The Lexus UX, which was showcased as a concept at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, will debut in its production-spec at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
The Toyota-owned luxury carmaker has also released a teaser shot of the upcoming crossover showcasing its solid LED single piece tail light assembly - which looks a slightly simplified version of the concept’s funky design. Otherwise, it is safe to assume that the UX will also proudly sport Lexus’ polarising spindle grille up front along with sharp creases and character lines all around.
The upcoming UX will draw its power from either a petrol only or a petrol hybrid powertrain, both of which it will likely share with the NX crossover and ES saloon. There is no diesel version expected. Also, an F Sport variant with sportier design elements and vivid colour options is expected to be the range topper.
The UX crossover will be positioned half a segment above the existing NX making it lock horns with the likes of Jaguar E-Pace and BMW X2. Starting price of the UX is expected to be a shade below the £30,000 (Rs 27 lakh) mark.
In India, Lexus currently sells the NX, ES, RX, LS and LX models. Except for the LX which is powered by a diesel engine, all other Lexus models are petrol hybrids.
