The RZ 450e is Lexus’ first globally-new battery electric vehicle.
Lexus has been at the forefront when it comes to hybrid technology but it has taken some time for its first globally-new EV to arrive. Nevertheless, the RZ 450e makes up for lost time with swanky styling, luxury, a standard all-wheel-drive system, cutting-edge tech and more!
The RZ 450e is based on the e-TNGA platform, shared with the Toyota bZ4x, but Lexus has done more than just swapping out the badges here. The RZ 450e definitely takes inspiration from other Lexus SUVs, but carves its own identity with the blanked-out grille (instead of the spindle pattern), sharp headlights and strong character lines all over.
Inside, the RZ 450e gets a plush-looking cabin with a massive 14-inch infotainment screen with integrated air-con controls, a digital instrument cluster and a panoramic roof. The RZ 450e also gets electronic door releases, which are a cool addition.
The RZ 450e makes 308bhp, no word on the torque yet, and sends power to all four wheels via the Direct4 all-wheel-drive system. The 71.4kWh battery pack enables a (Lexus estimated) range of 362km, which should mean a real-world range of over 300km.
We’re not certain if Lexus will bring the RZ 450e to India, though the company is evaluating the UX SUV for our country, so the RZ 450e is perhaps not outside the realm of possibility.
