We expected the updated Lexus ES premium sedan to make its way to India, but it seems like Lexus is planning to bring in its SUV, the NX 350h, to the Indian market first.
Lexus India currently retails three SUVs – the NX, RX, and LX series. The NX series starts at Rs 58.20 lakh (ex-showroom). For now, the NX series includes the NX 300h Exquisite, NX 300h Luxury, and NX 300h F Sport.
Soon, Lexus India is going to add the NX 350h to the line-up. The manufacturer has already commenced bookings for the new premium compact SUV.
The 350h will soon be the top-spec variant in Lexus’ NX line-up. The new NX 350h will feature a fair amount of updates to distinguish it from the outgoing 300h models. For starters, the 350h will sport a more aggressive fascia. The grille and headlamp design will be more sophisticated. There will also be a smartly integrated chrome strip in the lip of the bumper.
The rear engine will pack some design updates as well, and the taillamp will feature some gloss black surrounds. The hatch of the 350h will sport different styling elements than the outgoing 300h SUV. Inside, the dashboard will sport a fair amount of tweaks.
The engine will be the same 2.5-litre four-cylinder, paired to an electric motor – it is currently on offer with the Lexus NX 300h. The combined power output of this engine is 30bhp higher than that of the 300h. The Lexus NX 350h puts out 336.7bhp, and the peak power of the outgoing 300h is 206bhp. The engine is paired to a CVT, which sends power to all the wheels via the all-wheel-drive system.
The price of the new Lexus NX 350h is likely to start from the Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. The new Japanese premium compact SUV will take on the likes of the Volvo XC60, the Audi Q5, the Mercedes GLC, and the upcoming BMW X3.
