Lexus, the Japanese automaker, has officially launched the fourth-generation LX luxury SUV in India. While the previous-generation LX was sold here with both petrol and diesel engines, the latest one is only available in the diesel LX 500d variant. It is priced at Rs 2.82 crore (ex-showroom). The deliveries for the same will begin from January 2023 onwards.
The new Lexus LX 500d has a significantly more muscular appearance than its predecessors. While the rear receives a full-width LED strip connecting the LED taillamps, the front features a huge spindle grille and narrow LED headlights. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2,850mm and measures 5,100mm in length, 1,990mm in width, and 1,895mm in height. It boasts an improved centre of gravity and is 200kg lighter than the previous LX due to the engine's relocation to the back. Additionally, it includes 22-inch alloy wheels.
In terms of the powertrain, a 3.3-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine with 310bhp of maximum power and 700Nm of peak torque powers the new Lexus LX 500d. A 10-speed automatic transmission distributes this power to all the wheels. The SUV has adaptive variable suspension and active height-controllable suspension for all four wheels.
