Visually inspired by the limited-production LFA, Lexus' all-new flagship hybrid luxury Coupé has finally hit the showroom floors in India. Deliveries to begin in March 2020.
We first got a taste of the Lexus LC 500h when we drove it in Japan last year. Back then, we had also reported that it would be the next new offering from Lexus India in 2020. That moment has finally arrived, as today, Lexus India has officially launched the LC 500h Coupé at a whopping ₹1.96 crore (ex-showroom). Deliveries of the car are expected to begin in March. The LC 500h also marks the entry of a new vehicle segment for Lexus India, as, until today, the brand only sold sedans (ES & LS) and SUVs/Crossovers (NX, RX & LX).
The LC 500h, in the words of our Editor, is 'tasked with injecting a dose of sportiness into the Lexus range.' It's powered by a 3.5-litre (3,456cc) V6 that works in tandem with a Two Motor Generator hybrid system. The hybrid system draws its power from an 84-cell Li-ion battery (part of a new Lexus Muti-Stage Hybrid System). Combined power & torque outputs are pegged at 354bhp & 347Nm, of which, 295bhp comes from the V6. The LC 500h sends all the power to its rear wheels via a 10-speed hybrid automatic gearbox.
Brought here as a CBU, the Lexus LC 500h will compete with the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupé, Jaguar F-Type, and the upcoming BMW 8-Series.
